‘Blanche’ on the left and ‘Dinker’ on the right are both last year’s young herring gulls. They were inside our hospital unit for different recuperation reasons but had both been with us for some time and tested negative for Avian Influenza.
As gulls are gregarious birds it was decided for their welfare that they would both fare better if they shared a pen.
Here they are making a mess of their litter tray of water, just having a quick cleanup before breakfast!
This was filmed from the opposite end of a large room using the zoom function on the camera.
Happily, they are both doing well and have now moved to an outside aviary. 🐧
