We work with schools, colleges and universities in our education and outreach activities.
If you would like to discover more about working with Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital Cornwall – from primary school visits to supporting university research programmes – please get in touch.
Here’s some examples of recent outreach activities our team has participated in.
In January 2023, members of our team visited vulnerable young adults, some with additional needs, at the Kehelland Trust. We spoke with them about the history of the Bird Hospital, and what our roles at the hospital involve.
We’re running a programme called ‘Birds on the Branchline’, a new project encouraging children’s interest in wildlife. Run in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology, with funding from GWR, the initiative celebrated the heritage of songbirds and their habitat on the St Ives Bay line.
It delivered award-winning creative literacy and nature preservation workshops based around the notion of Word Birds and a Poetree to children and young people living in the local community and special ‘on board’ events for everyone.
BTO Youth Representatives David and Carla took families on a guided bird walk starting and finishing at Lelant Station. The walk took in the Hayle Estuary and onto the beach, giving the group time to look out for waders, wildfowl and songbirds.
