✨Patient Success Recap ✨

Posted: March 7, 2026 in News

After a long, wet winter (and our hospital being closed for part of it!), we wanted to share some of the amazing patients we’ve cared for over the last two seasons 💙🕊️

🦅 Great Skua

Blown off course during spring migration, this beauty came to us weak and waterlogged. After time to rebuild strength and regain waterproofing, they were safely released back to the wild.

🪶 Herring Gull – Oil Contamination Case

Found in Newlyn harbour and covered in oil. After several washes and charcoal treatment to help clear ingested oil, she made a brilliant recovery and flew home looking spotless!

🕊️ Black‑headed Gull

Admitted with an unknown contaminant. Despite multiple washes and supportive care, this little one sadly passed away. We’re still proud to have given them safety, comfort, and every chance at recovery. 💛

🟧 Juvenile Puffin

One of our favourites from last year! Found exhausted in a garden after being blown far off course. With rest and specialist care, they bounced back and were released offshore near Padstow—with huge thanks to Padstow Safaris for helping us return them close to their colony.

🐣 Herring Gull Juveniles

Each summer we raise over 100 orphaned or displaced young gulls. From foraging practice to learning social skills, we give them the second chance they deserve. Here are just a couple of our heartwarming release moments from last season.

💙 Thank you to everyone who supports the work we do. Every patient matters — and every recovery means the world to us.
