Our volunteers are an essential part of our work – they’re the backbone of the organisation and our work wouldn’t be possible without the hours of care they put into working with us.
From dealing with our visitors to answering enquiries, from helping to care for the wild birds to supporting our fundraising, this is a varied and rewarding role.
You can offer hours to work within your existing commitments, as many or as few as you would like. Make new friends, care for our birds and help to give something back to your community. If you’d like to know more about volunteering, get in touch through our Contact Us pages and fill out our enquiry form.
Aviary Attendants
Have you ever wanted to get hands-on experience caring for wildlife?
We are currently looking for two to three like-minded, committed volunteers to help us clean our gull aviaries.
Start time: between 09:30-10:00am
Commitment: 3+ hours each morning
Days: Monday-Sunday availability (to be split between 2-3 people)
Start Date: ASAP – likely until the end of this year (2023) (extension possible)
The role will involve scrubbing and mopping the aviaries, replacing fleece bedding, re-filling paddling pools, transporting and emptying dirty water into storage bins on site (IBCs), and completing the morning feed. There is also the possibility of helping in our inside hospital area too. It is a physical role! Training and PPE will be provided; we just need you to bring a pair of wellies!
So whether you have experience or not, please get in touch via email (info@mouseholebirdhospital.org.uk) for an application form or the enquiries form on the contact us page. We also welcome any questions you may have. This role is for 18-year-olds and older. We look forward to hearing from you!
