Bathing and preening is key for our guillemots to regain their waterproofing. It can take some time for previously oiled birds to become fully waterproofed due to the washing process stripping all oils, natural or not, from their feathers and the need to reapply natural oils to their feathers during preening.
This chap here was not going to wait for the pool to fill before having his bath! 😀
