The gulls do like to make the most of the deep pond in our “Deep Pond Aviary”. As you can see it really does provide the best conditions for a good wash!
It is important that these youngsters look after their feathers and develop good waterproofing before their release. Good quality feathers and waterproofing are vital for thermoregulation, buoyancy, flight and behavioural interactions.
It’s always a race between them to see who can get in first after it’s been cleaned and filled! 😀
